Lucknow, also called “Nawabo Ka Sahar” or “The City Of Nawabs”. Lucknow is famous for it’s rich history and cultural heritage. From its monuments to the vibrancy of its streets and mix culture of old and modern era makes it perfrect destination for travellers all around the world.

1. Bara Imambara

Bara Imambara is one of the most popular monument in the city. It was constructed by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula in 1784. Bara Imambara is famous for its Bhul Bhulaiya maze which become mystery for visitors. It has central hall which is one of the largest arched constructions in the world without any supporting beams. The architechture of Bara Imambara shows the influence of Mughals in Lucknow.

Bara Imambara is closed on Monday and open from 6A.M. to 5 P.M. on other days. Entry fee is ₹50 per adult.

2. Chota Imambara

 Chota Imambara is also a popular monument in Lucknow. It is located at just 1km from Bara Imambara. It is built by Muhammad Ali Shah in 1838. This monument is also referred as “Palace of Lights”. On the initial days it was congreation hall for Muslims later on it was become attraction for tourist.

Chota Imambara is closed on Monday and open from 7A.M. to 5 P.M. on other days. Entry fee is ₹50 per adult.

3. Lucknow Residency

Lucknow Residency is the home for Britishers during the revlot of 1857. It is now become a historical landmark as British Residency and preserved as heritage site. It has museum where one can find the lives of British officers who once lived here.

Entry fee for Museum in Lucknow Residency is ₹15 per adult. It opens from 7A.M. to 5 P.M.

4. Rumi Darwaza

Rumi Darwaza is a 60 feet tall tower which serves as a towering gateway and it was historical landmark in Lucknow. It is built in 1784 and it is built in Awadhi architecture style. It is a famous landmark in Lucknow and it sometime also referred as “Turkish Gate”. Rumi Darwaza seprates the Bara and Chota Imambara.

5. Dilkusha Kothi

Dilkusha Kothi is ruin today but it shows the summer place for the British in British colonial era. It is built in 18th century and it has great historical and cultural significance. It was also used as a place where wives of Begums come and relax in the summer.

Entry fee for Dilkusha Kothi is ₹5 per person.

6. Ambedkar Memorial Park

Ambedkar Memorial Park is dedicated to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other social reformers. This park is spread over 107 acres. This park has beautiful gardens, fountains, statues and serene atmosphere which attracts both locals and tourists.

Ambedkar Memorial Parks opens from 11A.M. to 9P.M.

7. Chattar Manzil

Chattar Manzil is a heritage site in Lucknow, which is also known as Umbrella Palace for it’s unique dome, shaped like umbrella. It was made in Indo – Italian architecture. This was a palace for Nawabs and their wives in the past and it now shows the royal past of Lucknow

It is closed on Sunday and it opens from 8A.M. to 6P.M. on other days.

8. Hazratganj

Hazratganj is one of the main market of Lucknow where you can find high end retail stores, local shops and perfect place for food lovers. People can find traditional Chinkari clothes, food like kebabs and chaats and many things. You can see the modernity of Lucknow in Haztarganj.

9. Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid is a mosque built in 1423 by Sultan Ahmed Shah. It is supported by 260 pillars and it shows the blend of Hindu and Muslim architectural style. Visitors come here to for spiritual significance and to witness the beauty of this mosque.

10. Constantia House (La Martiniere College)

Constantia House is a French architecture established by Frenchman Major-General Claude Martin. The structure is blend of Indian and European architectural style. Now a school is running in it but it’s garden, unique design and historical significance attract tourist.
